Privacy
Your calls are private. Here is exactly what we store.
Scam Shield is a hackathon project by Angie Becerra and Cassandra Morales for the Nebius x NVIDIA Global AI Hackathon 2026. We've written this policy in plain language so every family member can understand it.
Last updated October 30, 2026
We only listen with permission
Scam Shield only listens to a senior's calls after they say YES on their own phone. Florida, where we're based, requires everyone on a call to agree before it's recorded, so we never record or transcribe anyone without their consent. Our demos use scripted, simulated calls.
What we never keep
- No audio. We never record or save the sound of a call.
- No full transcripts. We analyze the words during the call to check for scams, and then discard them.
- No ads and no tracking. We don't sell or share your information, and we don't use tracking cookies or analytics.
What we keep
- Family accounts: your email address and login, so only your family can see the people you protect.
- The people you protect: their name and phone number, your name and phone number, each person's preferred language, and their YES or NO answer.
- Call history: the caller's number, the time, the highest scam score, the reasons, who the caller said they were, the warning links we found, and your "Was this a scam?" answer.
- Your scam list: numbers you've reported, and whether to warn you about them or block them.
The "Test it" phone line
- We transcribe your words as you speak and keep the text in memory for up to 2 hours so it can be displayed on the page. It is never stored in our database.
- We don't store your phone number. We keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) version for one day, only to limit how many test calls each phone can make.
- If you enter an email address, we use it only to send you that alert.
Who helps us run Scam Shield
- NVIDIA Nemotron on Nebius Token Factory analyzes the words of a call to score its risk.
- Tavily searches the web for matching scam warnings and reports about a caller's number.
- Twilio carries the phone calls and turns speech into text.
- Supabase manages family logins, Gmail sends alert emails, and Render hosts the site.
What your browser remembers
Your browser remembers your language preference and, if you log in, your login session. Nothing else is stored, and nothing is used to track you.
Deleting your information
You can pause protection anytime from the dashboard. To delete everything about you or someone you protect, email us at scam.shield.demo@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly. Because Scam Shield is a hackathon demo, all demo data will be deleted after the hackathon concludes.
Kids
Scam Shield is intended for adults and their families. It is not intended for children under 13.
